There is a saying in Hindi -
Dian Bhi Do Ghar Chhod Ker Shikar Kerti Hai
( Even a witch, when she goes fetching for her prey, she skips her neighbourhood and acquaintances).
Azim Premji, the whole and soul Wipro empire, is even worse than a witch. Why? This is why . Two days back Mr Premji have
requested
Karnataka Government to roll back the tax increase on IT products, instead double the Professional tax on IT employees because they already have high earning. Great going sir ! Keep sucking our blood like leeches because we are up for grabs. But hello? What about your own earnings and 75 % stake in the company business.
All these years he had been respected as a great entrepreneur and a down to earth person. For a short period of time, he was the richest person after Bill Gates, on paper. Great entrepreneur he is but down to earth my foot! I always had my doubts whether he deserves the respect he gets. Slowly and Surely, he is exposed.
The little known fact is that Wipro is among the worst payers in the industry. The employees satisfaction is abysmally low and attrition is very high. When company reached billion dollar mark, they didn't have a penny for their employees. He is enjoying the unlimited benefit of tax holiday on the exports. Now the company is billion dollar and he is not willing to pay more tax and now he his eyeing the pocket of those people who have helped him to build his empire. Capitalist bigot!
We have to pay more because we can and there are millions who don't pay at all. He didn't have any suggestions to increase the tax net. And what about the other professionals who or not in IT field. What about the his majesties like Premji who have billion dollar incomes? He doesn't want tax on the dividends either. So in short, he wants everything which may help in swelling his wealth and every one else may go for fishing.
Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live. One such selfish guy he is.

Also, I was explaining what Americans mean when they say "American jobs," because some of them are very angry over this sort of thing, though I myself, as I've said, am a little torn about what I think of it.

This is probably neither here nor there, but when I called tech support with my computer I got a guy in India and he was awesome. He was super polite and incredibly knowlegable and even called me back later that day and then again the next day to make sure things were working OK. So, anonymous Indian tech support guy who works for Gateway, I salute you.

Yes, as I said, Indian tech support can certainly be excellent, but that's all the more reason why it pisses me off that these people are getting paid literally a small fraction of what an American would be payed to do the same job, and not necessarily with the same sort of politeness/devotion.
I really think that's the part of outsourcing that really pisses me off.

Every time i call Cisco...i get some guy i can barely understand, and have to spend 15 minutes just explaining the issue. Im an IT guy who works on a real tight schedule and dont have time for this. I didnt have this problem when Cisco did their Tech support 5 miles down the road from my house. And my friends had JOBS!

It's natural to get frustrated by losing a job, but for IBM or anyone else, it's business. IF they get a guy with similar or better at less cost, it makes sense.
On a comparitive scale, then it is infact true that Indians are paid less as compared to Americans, but honestly, cost of living in India is much less than in USA. Infact, in India, techies are one of the most handsomely paid guys.
However, It would be of much concern, had the Indian techies who are working in USA been paid less as compared to Indian counterparts because there cost of living is high. But there is some amount of truth that they are been paid less but not blatantly less.
Cisco comes and hires very bright Indians techies. They come here on their own will. If anyone has any problem with any particular guy, then one must complain to CISCO. But, if it's simply for the sterotype then no body can help. Not even CISCO.

the point of your original article--if im understanding your complaint about wipro and premji--is premji not only underpays for the skills of his workers but also wishes to minimize his tax debt by increasing the tax rate of those he employs. so, he is playing both ends against the middle, no? while this may not violate any laws in either country, it is a sad commentary on his personal avarice as well as that of those companies who contract with him.
